VOICES GALA

 Ziegfeld Ballroom
141 West 54th St, New York, NY 10019
 Thursday, May 12, 2022
 6:30 pm EDT

Our 17th annual Voices gala held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 was the most successful fundraiser BroSis has ever held. Over 500 friends and supporters joined us for a fantastic night in celebration of our members and their voices. We are overwhelmed by your generosity – thanks to all of you, we raised over $1.75 million dollars!

It was our great privilege to honor Khary Lazarre-WhiteJason Warwin, and Elizabeth Acevedo, who all spoke powerfully about the importance of our work educating, organizing, and training for social justice. We also thank our gracious Board Member, Dr. Farah Griffin, for the wonderful job she did moderating the conversation with Khary and Jason.

It is not too late to make a gift in support of Voices. Click here to support the life-changing work of BroSis.

Elizabeth was honored and presented with The Frida Kahlo Award for Innovative Creativity at our Voices gala. We were so proud to recognize Elizabeth as an alumni member of The Brotherhood Sister Sol – the first to ever be honored at Voices – a woman who entered our doors as a powerful, brave and brilliant girl, who became a woman whose voice and artistry inspires the current members of our organization.

The evening featured a very special surprise message from Oprah Winfrey for Khary and Jason – watch it below. Twenty years after presenting them with her Angel Network Use Your Life Award – and a $100,000 donation – Oprah shared her congratulations with the packed crowd.

For over 25 years, The Brotherhood Sister Sol has been at the forefront of social justice, educating, organizing and training to challenge inequity and champion opportunity for all.

Voices is our signature annual celebration of our youth and life-changing programming. Voices provides a platform for members to share their personal journeys, often through spoken word performances. Voices is also the time we celebrate and highlight the accomplishments of our honorees – individuals who embody the ideals of BroSis in educating, organizing, and training.

If you have any questions, please contact John Dumey, Director of Development, at jd@brotherhood-sistersol.org.

  covid safety

Please note that all guests must be fully vaccinated to attend Voices. We ask that attendees be prepared to show photo ID and your vaccination card, a photo of your card, or the Excelsior Pass to staff upon entry. While New York City is no longer mandating vaccination for events, we are taking this additional step out of an abundance of caution.

We are also planning on streaming Voices over the internet, details about which will be shared shortly – stay tuned!
