Joy reflects on her life and how she landed a role in the new Netflix series Wednesday as Bianca Barclay and mentions the first international trip she took outside of the U.S. and her home in Nigeria, which was to Brazil and funded and facilitated by #BroSis via our International Study Program, which profoundly empowers our youth to be leaders and global citizens. “Brazil was the first place I ever felt like I was beautiful,” Joy tells Seventeen.
Joy used to travel from Staten Island to BroSis in Harlem and dreamed of being an actress since being a youth member in our youth-led organizing collective, the Liberation Program. We are so proud of Joy and look forward to keeping up with all of her projects!
