A beginning and an end. It was the end of our time in Rio de Janeiro but the beginning of our time in Miguel Pereira. We had just left the starlet city and were beginning to enter a hidden jewel way up in the mountains, but does anyone ever wonder why it is that a starlet burns out so easily? It all anyone wants to see. It the crown jewel where everyone believes the epicenter is, but the true question is , is it? To deny the beauty of Rio would be utterly absurd but to claim that it is the only beauty is even more. Our time in Rio has lead me to conclude that the beauty of Rio comes from the exploitation of its natural resources and the poverty of others. Along the beautiful beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema who both are world famous lies the dozen of displaced women and children who due to an unfortunate government lost the only thing not even held to their name. Along the way to one of the wonders of the world the Christ the Redeemer statue, is prime capitalism at its finest in a way to bring tourist in to spend what they can on a known treasure not even those apart of the view can see. Brazil has been lovely so far for us but our own objective here is to not point out the many beauty that it has but the flaws and the city of Rio has many but in order to be able to fully appreciate the beauty we must correct the flaws.
