Our growing youth-run farmers’ market is managed by the young people in our Environmental Program. It runs every Wednesday until the end of November, providing over 30,000 pounds of fresh food to over 2,000 community residents in an area deemed a food desert.

This year, this is in addition to the over 100,000 meals we have provided during weekly food distributions to our youth and our Uptown/Bronx communities in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

All produce sold at the Bro/Sis Green Youth Market is farm fresh and New York state grown. Some of the produce is grown in our Environmental Learning Center, which we developed as the Frank White Memorial Garden’s caretakers. It includes a functional Urban Farm (producing more than 20 varieties of fruits and vegetables) co-designed, constructed, and nurtured by our youth members and community residents.

Thanks to our young gardeners’ hard work, the evergreens are lush, the garden is looking beautiful, and our Environmental Team and volunteers planted herbs and vegetables for this season. Click here to check out the photos of the garden and team planting okra, tomatoes, butternut squash, cucumbers, and more.
