Meet Rasheeda Purdie, New York City Stylist turned Chef, planting deep roots in the culinary haven of NYC.

Rasheeda completed her studies at The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC in 2005. She then worked under fashion designer Betsey Johnson as a boutique manager for five years and continued onto Bloomingdales as a visual merchandiser and legendary Henri Bendel as a top stylist for eight years. Some elite clientele; to name a few, the one and only “Queen B” Beyoncé, and former First Lady Michelle Obama & family.

It was at Henri Bendel, where she decided to attend culinary school, combining her love for artistry with a newfound love for cooking.

In 2015, Rasheeda completed her culinary degree at the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC.

She continued to refine and elevate her cooking techniques under notable chefs and restaurateurs like Chef “JJ” Johnson at The Cecil and Minton’s Playhouse; Melba Wilson of Melba’s Harlem, and Chef Marcus Samuelsson of Red Rooster Harlem.

In 2019, she joined The Wing, a private Women’s Club as the Assistant General Manager, Hospitality focused.

Fall of 2020 as a result of the global health pandemic, ラーメン B Y R Ā was launched in partnership with Ada Supper Club, celebrating Black and female expression through food.

In 2021, Rasheeda launched ramenbyra.com, where she offered rāmen kits for you to indulge in the comfort of your home. That Fall, she began offering exclusive rāmen experiences through restaurant partnerships and collaborations.

By the winter of 2022, Rasheeda began her teaching journey as a Chef Instructor with CUNY/Hostos, and hosting ramen classes at the Institute of Culinary Education through their Alumni Rewind Program.

Rasheeda now looks to bring her passion and love for food to the Brotherhood Sister Sol organization.
