HR Director
Janelle Bennett has worked in various HR roles in the private and public sector with expertise in Talent management, Training & Development, Compensation, Performance Management, and Coaching. She started her HR career as a Recruiter for Randstad and corporate retail working for Nordstrom, Ann Taylor, and Coach. She started her civil service career in 2008 with the Human Resources Administration Department of Social Services, assisting NYC residents with public assistance and moved on quickly to serve in HR as a Recruitment Coordinator managing the entire civil service and onboarding process for five years and spending two years as a Trainer in the Fraud Investigation Division conducting sessions on time and leave, performance management, and recruitment/interviewing techniques for staff and management.
In 2014, she joined the FDNY to serve as an Analyst in the Human Resources Bureau posting all recruitment vacancies and processing promotions for EMS, Firefighters, and Civilians. She then became the Talent & Compensation Manager, where she managed and streamlined the compensation and discretionary process. Lastly, she served as the Director of Talent Acquisition, overseeing staff and all the recruitment efforts for the entire agency utilizing various citywide resources. Janelle earned a BBA in Business Management and an MS in Human Resources Management from Pace University in New York City. Janelle recently completed Columbia University Senior Leaders Program for Non-Profit Professionals.
She is a native of Washington DC and was raised in several US cities and overseas by way of the US Army. In her spare time, she has volunteered as a Children’s Ministry teacher and Director for 10 years and enjoys mentoring children and assisting young adults with their college and career goals.
