Honoring our founders

KHARY LAZARRE-WHITE & JASON WARWIN

In 1995, at the age of 21, Khary co-founded The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis), a now nationally renowned, Harlem based, comprehensive youth development and educational organization that provides rites of passage programming, arts and enrichment based after school care, counseling, summer camps, job training, college preparation and scholarship, employment opportunities, community organizing training, legal representation, and month long international study programs to Africa, the Caribbean and South America.

Jason Warwin is the Co-Founder of The Brotherhood Sister Sol. He is an expert in the field of youth development, and a specialist in the design of transformative programs and experiences. His focus during the past two decades has been creating programs that directly support the development of Black and Latino youth in the Americas.

“The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) is pleased to invite you to our 17th Annual Voices Gala, which will be held, in-person, on Thursday, May 12th at The Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.

Three years after our last in-person Voices event, we will once again gather in community to celebrate and support BroSis’ efforts to educate young people, organize with them in pursuit of justice, and train educators on our model. 2022 is poised to be a major year for BroSis, with construction of our new home nearly complete, and a significant programmatic expansion already underway.

During such a momentous time for The Brotherhood Sister Sol, we are thrilled to share that we will be honoring Jason Warwin and Khary Lazarre-White, our visionary co-founders, for their unwavering commitment to nurturing a generation of leaders, organizers, and change-makers, as well as their leadership of BroSis in navigating the Covid pandemic.”

For more than 25 years, The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) has been at the forefront of social justice, educating, organizing and training to challenge inequity and champion opportunity for all.

Voices is our signature annual celebration of our youth and our life changing programming. Voices provides a platform for our members to share their personal journeys, often through spoken word performances. Please check out the videos on this page to learn more about what makes this gala so special.

Voices is also the time when we celebrate and highlight the accomplishments of our honorees – individuals who embody the ideals of The Brotherhood Sister Sol: Positivity, Community, Knowledge and Future.

If you have any questions, please contact John Dumey, Director of Development, at [email protected]
