Ezequiel Mejia Serrano-Cruzado
After School Elementary Program Facilitator
Ezequiel, also known as Zeke, is a BroSis alumnus who joined the Titus Chapter of The Brotherhood in 2014. In 2015, he participated in The Encampment for Citizenship at Touougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, learning about the civil rights movement’s roots. Zeke discovered a passion for storytelling through media and photography during high school. He produced and directed a film that won best cinematography and was showcased at Times Square’s AMC Empire 25. It was also an official selection for the 2017 All American High School Film Festival, which received nearly 2000 submissions from 50 states and over 40 countries. His passion for media led him to join Manhattan Neighborhood Network in the El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center. He led a group and created a talk show called “Ujamaa,” featuring local artists, poets, and community activists discussing community collaboration and awareness. As an alumni, Zeke has worked with us in numerous summers and Afterschool Elementary Program as a part timer, developing new experiences for our 8-13 years with variety activities such as STEM, the arts and physical education.
Currently, Zeke resides in Jersey City with his husband, Ricky, and their dog, Bruno. He manages social media and co-owns his coffee company, Modern Delights Cafe.
